Number plates are a legal component, not a sticker. Here is exactly what we do and why it matters.
01 Materials that survive a British winter
Every plate starts as 3mm cast acrylic — not extruded sheet — bonded to a reflective base to BS AU 145e. Cast acrylic resists crazing under UV and won't yellow after a season of salt and rain.
Characters are cut, not printed, on our 4D and Hex ranges: the reg is a physical object standing off the plate, so a jet wash can't lift it.
02 Road-legal means documents
To supply a plate showing a real registration we are required to see proof of entitlement — your V5C, a V5C/2 green slip, a certificate of entitlement, or a temporary registration document — plus proof of identity, usually your driving licence.
You upload both at checkout. Nothing is printed until they're verified, and files are stored privately against your order.
03 Show plates are a different product
Show plates carry any text you like and need no documents — because they are supplied for display, exhibition and off-road use only. They are not legal on a public road.
We keep the two ranges completely separate at checkout so you're never asked for paperwork you don't need.
04 Spacing is the whole job
The DVLA specifies character height, stroke width, and the gaps between characters and groups to the millimetre. Get any of them wrong and the plate fails an MOT.
Our layout is generated from those figures, then checked by hand before the sheet goes on the machine. That's why our plates read clean from thirty metres.

Pairs are cheaper than two singles — a set is priced from £25 (2D) to £60 (4D Gel / Hex). Borders are £1 per plate, badges £3 each or £5 for a pair.
Questions, answered
What documents do I need for a legal plate?
Two things: proof you're entitled to the registration (V5C logbook, V5C/2 green slip, certificate of entitlement V750/V778, or a temporary registration certificate) and proof of who you are (driving licence, passport, or a recent utility bill with your name and address).
Photos from your phone are fine as long as all four corners and the text are readable.
How fast will my plates arrive?
Orders verified before 2pm on a working day are manufactured and dispatched the same day. Everything ships tracked Royal Mail 24, so most customers have their plates the next working day.

Are 3D, 4D and Hex plates road-legal?
Yes — when made to BS AU 145e, with the correct character font, spacing, and the supplier's name and postcode on the plate. All of our plates carry that marking and our RNPS details.
What is not legal: altered spacing to spell a word, non-standard fonts, tinted or shaded characters, and any coloured background other than white front / yellow rear.
Can I get my reg spaced differently to look like a word?
Not on a road-legal plate — misrepresenting a registration is an offence and will fail an MOT, and we're not permitted to supply it. You can have any spacing you like on a show plate for display or off-road use.
What size plates do you make?
Standard oblong (520 × 111mm) front and rear, plus short and 4×4 / square sizes for imports, vans and off-roaders. Motorcycle rear plates are available on request — message us on WhatsApp with your reg and we'll confirm the layout.
Do you fit them, and what do I need?
Fitting is straightforward at home. Choose caps & screws (£1.99 — six caps in white, yellow and black plus two screws) for existing holes, or a sticky pads kit (£2.99 — five strips, one plate) if you'd rather not drill.
What if a plate arrives damaged or wrong?
Message us with a photo within 48 hours and we remake and reship at our cost. Every plate is photographed before packing, so we can check it against what left us.
